MEER was born out of a deep desire to start a high end, sustainable furniture business with a hand-crafted approach. Myself and two close friends started designing a collection, and it quickly grew to be our first collection at MEER.
MEER means "lake" in Danish
Myself, Joe Dunaske, and Hayden Westers are all of Dutch and Northern European descent, and grew up near the Great Lakes. It was quite the fitting name.

Designs were made with construction in mind. Things were kept simple, but not so much that it looked like lackluster design.
We added new materials, like steel and leather, to challenge ourselves, while achieving our end goal with the perfect look.
Our materials are selected from local and sustainable sources, and we use up-cycled goods when possible.
We introduced multiple dining options. From a 48" or 72" round, to a 72" rectangular table with optional leaves. Multiple finish options are available for all pieces.
End Table
Large lounge chair with buffalo hide seat cushion and leather back cushion. Buffalo hide will be sourced from a large farm in Traverse City Michigan.
Rocking Chair with soft fur cushions, sitting with our end table.
After we designed most of the pieces, we decided to prototype the dining chair, since we had the most concerns with the stability and fragility of the piece. We spent two days making it, and had a wide range of people sit in it. Once we got the feedback, we were able to go back and adjust the sizes of the posts and the pitch of the seat.
